Rules, Goals, and Mods For VTM Challenge

--GENERAL RULES

Money: At the start, add as much money as you need to build or buy a mansion. Afterward, set family funds to 100,000 with the following cheat: familyfunds name 100000 (substitute name with your family’s last name). More details on how you will earn money in the masquerade section.

Seasons: If you have the expansion, set the seasons as you like.

Pets: Optional.

University: Optional

Aging: Disable! In this challenge, vampires are immortal and do not age beyond young adult (unless killed through other methods…most likely by your command). You can age up children as you see fit. (if this bothers you then you don't have to do it but it is better for the challenge.)

--GOALS

To declare this challenge won, you must:

1. Restore the masquerade by following all of the instructions outlined under MASQUERADE section below. Essentially, you want to dispel the existence of vampires back down to folklore and old wives tales. Why? Why doesn’t the wolf want the sheep to know he’s there? It just makes life a lot easier for everyone (and easier to conceal shady dealings in the night).

2. Rule the city successfully as prince without being demoted by the Camarilla. This is outlined under ITS GOOD TO BE PRINCE below.

(This of course means that you will have to eradicate the other factions by whatever means necessary as long as it is in line with the Masquerade. )

--MODS

The world of vampires is bloody…well in more ways than one. Part of restoring the masquerade involves punishing those who dare to disobey your law as Prince. You can, sometimes, show mercy and offer warnings, but some acts are punishable by death. To send a message to the kindred of your city that these transgressions will carry the ultimate price, you will have to order executions from time to time. I give you three ways to accomplish this:

1. DEXTER THE BEAR MOD (found here http://modthesims.info/d/372599)
2. Turn them human using the vampire cure potion
3. Come up with your own alternative

Ultimately, this is up to you; however, they cannot remain a vampire and can never be one again. I prefer to just have my enforcer come in with Dexter, pull out the big sword, and take care of business (permanently). It is OK to using testing cheats to remove the grieving moodlet from your character and anyone in their household (unless it’s the deceased’s widow or something).

I know some people really like their mods. I am one of them.  As far as I am concerned you can use any mod you like as long as it enhances the game play and doesn't go overboard in the realm of "Cheaty"  For instance, I wouldn't use the testingcheatsenabled  cheat so you can drag your motive bars over. Your an immortal vampire. You have all the time in the world to accomplish your goals. A little sleep never killed anyone.

The Advanced Vampire the Masqurade Challenge: Introduction

Advanced Version of  Mysty's Vampire the Masquerade Challenge

Introduction

With Mysty's permission I have set out to make an advanced version of her challenge based a little less loosely on White Wolf's Vampire the Masquerade RPG. Like Mysty, I will leave this fairly open ended so you can play it any way you wish.  However I will provide the basics for setting up the world you will play in as well as give you some direction on rolls for unexpected events your Prince will have to deal with.
Unlike Mysty, my version does not include anything from the Online game as that I have only dealt with the offline computer game and the rule, story teller, and player guide books for VTM's original Pen and Ink, D and D style game.  Please note my houses will have different traits than Mysty.   Where she set out to make it Sims Player friendly, I am trying to create a more authentic VTM game play.

Sample Story Line:

"I don't understand why the Prince puts up with her.  His mate should live with him and she shouldn't be a Malkavian," James spat the word Malkavian as though it soiled him to even think it much less say it.

"You don't know the story then," Tony asked, looking up from the Arkansas Toothpick he was sharpening.

"What story?"

"Our prince may appear to be young, but he once held a seat in the Roman Senate.  He got that seat by killing his own uncle after the man went back on his word of getting a Rite of Release for one of the Epiphanies at the Temple of Delphi.  She had true vision without help from that gas they used, and had lead him to several victories over the barbarians.  Once he had his uncles seat, he went to release her himself.  His intent was to turn her then pass her off as a born vampire whose family was murdered by raiders."  Tony returned to his knife sharpening, sensing the possibility that someone might be coming.  He didn't want to be the one caught gossiping about the prince.

"So what happened, if his Mate is the same woman, how did she become a Malkavian?"

"Well James, that is kind of the million dollar question.  No one knows for sure but rumor says while he was away fighting the barbarians, the Malkavian Primogine went to Delphi looking for someone who could make sense of his visions and bring some clarity to his insanity.  He found Nobie and she did just that.  They say the Prince  caught the Primogine in the process of turning her and was to late to stop her turning.  He killed her Sire and took her on has his own. "

"That would mean they were over a thousand years old," James whispered in awe.

"Aye, it would.  But, like I said, it's only a rumor," Tony shrugged as he replied.

"I know shes not completely sane but shes saner than the rest.  Is it because she had the gift of sight already?"

"Could be... Rumor says she feeds from the prince any time he senses that shes might be about to have an episode and it is his blood that keeps her sane.  Well that and the fact she doesn't drink from humans ever.  Rumor says that if she does, she will go into a blood lust that can take out an entire village and leave the prince with no choice but to move her somewhere else and use a plague to cover up what she did."

"Feeds from him?  But that would make her..."

"And now you know why it's just a rumor.  One I thought you should know to understand.  If I was you, I wouldn't go repeating it."  Tony flashed a slightly threatening smile in James' direction.  "I am foresworn to protect them both and I am good at my job."

Note:  Not all stories are or should be like this one. Check the rules for times when such things can be used.

Game Versions:

Late Night, Super natural and University, though I highly recommend Seasons for a more authentic game play, it isn't necessary.  It's up to you whether you wish to include other supernatural creatures. There are storyline books within the VTM source books that have Ghosts and the Fae as part of the game.  Werewolves are a must, Genies are to be considered part of the Fae,  Though transitional ghosts are fine, I think the Carmerilla would frown on "living ghosts" we got with supernatural.  It's up to you how you handle this.  Again, more about that in the rules post.

Terminology: -

You will only loosely need these for reference through the course of this challenge as I will use them. You do not need them for actual play.  I may add more as I go.  I feel like I may have forgotten one or two that are important.

Kindred - Vampire

Kine- Humans

Antediluvians - The original vampires that established the clans.

Perimogines - Leaders of each clan in their own individual house.

Prince- Leader of the Carmerilla

Carmerilla - Sect of Vampires intent on making sure humans don't find out about vampires.  You will need to designate an area for this group to live separate from other sects.

Anarchists -   Though they respect the laws the resent the older vampires and the way they hang on to power.  The Politics of being part of the Carmerilla is often what drives the Anarchists to join the Sabbat though many are content with just being a thorn in the side of the Carmerilla   - Should typically be given an area in the more industrial dirtier part of town

Sabbat - Made up of members of different clans, though there are two or three clans that make up the majority of the sect.   This is the clan that flaunts vampirism and fuels the rumors.  They are the exact opposit of the Carmerilla.  Carmerilla use popularity, beauty and skill to keep humans in disbelief and in check.   Sabbat use the same gifts but to promote the idea that vampires are real.  These are the vamps you will find at Human vamp clubs looking for humans who want to be vamps.

Gouls - We do not have the ability to have traditional ghouls in the Sims 3.  They are the humans who are fed blood of a vampire to keep them enthralled.  They run errands for vampires while they sleep.   Think Renfield from Bram Stokers Dracula. You can however use the roommate option this way.  More on that in the rules.

Childe - these are the people your vampire turn

Sire- Basically means parent of the Childe

Masquerade - The image vampires must maintain in order to keep the humans in the dark.

Lupine - Mortal enemies of all vampires.  Live in the wooded areas around cities can hide amoung humans as long as they don't get to close.  Vampires can smell them.  If either group runs into the other in the wrong territory it can cause problems.

Blood Lust  - What happens if a vampire doesn't feed often enough.

Regent - Sabbat version of the prince
